I run an ethical search engine company in Norfolk, and I stunned by the techniques used by Customer Street. Poor quality websites, keywords stuffed all over the site, and very spurious sales techniques. I have reported them to Google through their webmaster SPAM report service, but nothing has happened yet.

i was called by BT customer st in december 09. after a 90 minute phone call i agreed to pay a £353 setup fee and £82 per month for what i thought was SEO for my personal website. obviously what i got was something very different. i tried canceling the contract as soon as i realised but without success. i then sent a letter stating they were in breach of contract and gave them 14 days to rectify the situation. they were unwilling to do this so i made a claim against them in court.
their legal team have sent me a document outlining the defense against my claims. one point i raised was that there are many other people in the same position as myself who have been mis-sold a service by BT Customer St. their response was that they have no knowledge of this and i have no evidence to suggest so. i included links to several of the many webpages where people have complained about them, however this does not seem to be substantial enough. if anyone would be willing to briefly outline their complaint and send it to me i would be very grateful. maybe we can finally expose this company for how they have exploited many small businesses and get some justice.
please send your replies to David@DavAshMusic.com

thank you

I am usually so careful and say 'no' straight-away, but was hoodwinked into 'signing up'. I received several calls by a seemingly friendly and well-informed woman, who persuaded me, promising me more clients, however managed to sort of not make the name 'Customerstreet' too clear. BT No-Customerstreet frankly is a substandard service, of course far more expensive than I can afford, especially since I am receiving zero return from their badly placed listings and the website. This I had to work on for hours, because even though in some way quite fresh it was quite ruff and cheap and not appropriate to offering complementary therapy. So maybe they should pay me! Their business ethos is appauling - trying to get the contract cancelled they advise you that by giving them your credit card detais you have basically signed away the right to retract, it appears one is sold for a whole year. Here goes trying though!

I was sold a website with the promise of more business, at an initial cost of £375.00 Nearly two months later and NOTHING! No calls, no leads, diddly squat. I said in the first place that if it didnt work then i would cancel after trying it for a few months. Now they say im bound to a 12 month contract, which i wasnt told in the first place. Im going on being miss sold my policy and they are investigating. I think BBC watch dog need to hear about this. Avoid BT like your life and bank balance depend on it.

I received a voicemail yesterday from someone from BT looking for a telephone engineer in Cheltenham. I duly returned the call wondering why BT would be looking for telephone engineers when they have their own workforce of 30,000 engineers.
The hard sell went on for 40 minutes with promises that an ad with BT Customer Street would improve my leads. My nearest competitor is over 20 miles away and we pass business back and forth between each other. when the girl finally realised that NO meant No she told me that if I didn't pay for the ad today that she would pass the opportunity to someone else in my area. She is more than welcome to try as there is noone else in my area.

I received a telephone call from BT Customer Street, the call lasted 30 minutes until I had to cut her off. She was extremely pushy and wanted a sale there and then. She told me that my plumbing business would benefit from a website, I told her I needed to speak to my partner. I later got a call from my wife who had a call from the same woman, she was pushy and asked her if she could make decisions on my behalf, my wife told her the cost was too high she then said she could knock off £50.00, but needed payment that afternoon, and would need a credit card payment. Please be aware of this scam, I am just glad alarm bells rang before I gave her my details.
